Our architecture and grounds are modeled after authentic Mayan palaces and the result is nothing short of magnificent. The awe-inspiring vaults of the Barcelo Premium Karmina Palace's lobby will awaken your senses. Here the Great Mayan Temple of Palenque is reconstructed in larger than life dimensions, paying tribute to one of the most advanced civilizations of the ancient world; you will be able to appreciate the intricate wall carvings modeled after the ruins of Chiapas.
   Descending the lobby’s Royal Staircase, you will be lead outdoors to paths of tropical gardens. Wind your way to the Temple of the Snake, this remarkable pyramid-like structure is named after the sacred snake worshipped by the ancient civilization; at its peak you will find the entrance to the "serpent waterslide".
   As you walk along the royal grounds of the resort, the legacy of the ancient Mayan culture resonates. From the fallen pillars around the "cenote" (natural sinkhole), to the replica of Mayan inscriptions on the walls, you can truly lose yourself in the atmosphere of this magical "karmic" place.
   Each of our 324 suites has a large balcony or ground floor patio with garden or ocean view. The decor is warm and inviting with a color scheme of soothing cream comforters with palm tree prints on the pillows and pull out sofas. New local handcrafted art ornaments the walls and beautiful pottery lamps complete the appealing look.

All of our suites feature the following amenities: Large, oversized living room, oversized bathroom featuring an enclosed toilet, bath tub, separate shower enclosure with his and her vanity areas, balcony/terrace,  central air conditioning, marble floors, ceiling fan, refrigerator or mini-fridge, digital telephones, and two color television sets.

Dining

Beach Bar: Our bar is ideally located on the beach to quench your thirst while sunbathing. If you like pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris, don't miss our exclusive "Miami Vice" cocktail. The split personality drink - half strawberry daiquiri - half pina colada is a guest favorite.


Bugambilias: Offers a delicious and varied buffet for breakfast in an air-conditioned dining room or on a terrace, with a spectacular view to the neighboring marina.


Carioca: Our signature a-la-carte restaurant; it is perched on a cliff in an exotic Palapa overlooking the bay. Savor contemporary dishes prepared by our international chef, bound to please even the most discerning palate. After 11:00 p.m. the area transforms into a disco where guests can dance the night away to great music while enjoying a variety of specialty drinks and top shelf spirits.

Carioca Disco: The fun continues late into the evening when our Carioca restaurant converts into a breezy open-air nightclub overlooking the water. The DJ mixes popular dance tunes as well as funky renditions of Mexican favorites.


El Grill: The best of culinary pleasures come together under this thatched-roof restaurant, located by the pool, surrounded by gardens. Here you’ll find all your lunch favorites: pizza, sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as the best grilled fish, chicken and meat specialties.


Habanero's: Under a thatched roof with woven reed chandeliers, dine on your favourite Mexican dishes, with Karmina’s unique flair added to traditional recipes. Quesadillas with squash blossom, huitlacoche mushrooms and epazote with zucchinis, and tropical chicken with tangy guava sauce and roasted almonds are just a few of the tasty treats with a twist on this menu.

La Trattoria: Dine under the stars at our newest a la carte Italian bistro, appointed with candelit red and white checkered tables. Dishes include Italian classics such as "Insalata Cesare" done Karmina style and "Lasagna della casa" with grilled chicken, vegetables, parmesan and mozzarella cheese in a béchamel sauce, served over a fresh pomodoro sauce.

Lobby Bar: An all-inclusive Mexican vacation wouldn't be complete without refreshing and exotic beverages. That's why, our bar serves the most prestigious domestic and imported spirits and an extensive array of cocktails in a pleasant ambience.

Taco Bar: Located right next to the beach, guests serve themselves a wide assortment of tacos and all the fixings they prefer. There are always hot dogs, too, and hamburgers are grilled to order. Of course, no snack would be complete without a side order of fries to go with it.
