This is the Hotel Hacienda Uxmal, built in 1950 and lovingly maintained by the Fernando E. Barbachano family and its dedicated staff. 
   An enclave of old fashioned hospitality and quiet good taste, Hotel Hacienda Uxmal is located in the woodlands of Yucatan’s Puuc country zone. It shares a pride of place with the ancient Mayan ceremonial center for which it is named. Hacienda Uxmal offers the comforts of home in a lovely and historic setting. Hand-painted tiles, fine stonework and the generous use of regional hardwoods set the tone. The surrounding gardens are impeccably kept. Both wings of the two-story Hacienda, its graceful columns and wide arches, overlook an open courtyard. 
   In the intimate elegance of the Hacienda are 80 rooms and 2 guest suites each with a view of our lushly tropical pool area. The beds are the latest in modern comfort while the furnishings are handmade using indigenous woods and local artistry. Private baths, full air conditioning and satellite TV ensure the comfort of each of our guests. The rooms can be opened to the predominant breeze or enjoyed under climate control. 
   The romance of our tastefully decorated, candle-lit dining room is the perfect setting for the gourmet Yucatan cuisine produced by our team of expertly trained chefs. Fresh seafood, home-grown vegetables and other delights produce a medley of exotic flavors for your nightly dining pleasure. In addition, our casual poolside grill offers Mexican and American favorites daily plus cold beverages perfect for comfortable lounging after a day of exploring. 
   How much can you do in one day? The grounds of the Uxmal archaeological park are adjacent to our property and our private guides will give you the insider's perspective on the great Maya civilization. Nighttime sound and light shows, in English and Spanish, present a dramatic interpretation of the pyramids and their story. Shuttle buses will transport you in comfort to the nearby city of Merida, the beautiful "White City" with its elegant buildings and gardens and exciting marketplace. 
   Uxmal is in the heart of the Puuc region with Kabah, Sayil and Labna within a 20-minute drive. Yucatan's great convents and haciendas are located within a 30-mile radius. The National Flamingo Park at Celestun and the walled city of Campeche, a colonial gem not to be missed, are both a pleasant one and one-half hour’s drive from the hotel.
