Vallarta>Hotelito Desconocido
Hotelito Desconocido adjoins a nature preserve, borders an estuary
and fronts a pristine beach. At night, hundreds of candles light the
rooms and restaurant and luminaries light the pathways that meander
throughout the resort. The property is located approximately 60 miles
south of Puerto Vallarta. The hotel is completely secluded, with no
telephones and no neighboring restaurants, nightclubs, or shopping.
Hotel amenities include the swimming pool, beach, and El Mundo de
la Salud, a luxury spa with a full range of massages and spa treatments,
complemented with yoga and stretching classes. El Mundo De La Salud
offers Spa treatments that include Shiatsu, Hot Stone, Aromatherapy and
mud-bath techniques. The spa's signature mermaid bath uses French
Polynesian plant roots, sea salt and essential oils. Activities are
available for an additional charge, including horseback riding, mountain
biking, hiking, windsurfing, sailing, kayaks, billiards, bird-watching
tours, beach volleyball or simply relaxing by the outdoor pool. Beach
bonfires are lit on select evenings.. From June to January, participate
in the sunset releases of baby sea turtles from the protected nesting
area.
This resort has a mandatory meal plan of $75 per person per night
(plus taxes), which includes a daily pre-set menu of Mexican specialties
for lunch and dinner, served at one of two ocean-front restaurants. Two
rate plans are offered: a room only rate with breakfast, where guests
must pay the hotel directly for the meal plan at check-out; or a room
rate including breakfast, the meal plan for two people and taxes.
By raising a signal flag, guests indicate their desire to receive
complimentary coffee and cookies each morning. The hotel's rustic
restaurant, El Cantarito, is built on stilts over the Estuary. The bar
is modeled after an old-fashioned drugstore, with an assortment of beers
and liquors lining the walls rather than medicines. Nopolito is an
ultra-casual club that serves tropical drinks in an al fresco beachside
location. Billiards are played in the club by candlelight.
Hotelito Desconocido operates on the principles of a simple life,
using Solar Power, only. There is no electricity, no phone service, no
internet access and no television. Bungalows features small solar
generators that power ceiling fans. At night, hundreds of candles and
torches light the public areas, walkways and rooms.

The resorts guestrooms are in Palafitos, bungalows built on stilts.
Rooms offer bottled water, flashlights, gauze-netted beds, private
terraces, and bathrooms with open-air showers and Tepezcohuite soaps,
shampoos and body lotions made from natural extracts. There is no
electricity; candles provide illumination at night, and solar-powered
ceiling fans provide optional in-room cooling. The lagoon section of
this resort houses three master suites, five Palafito suites and five
individual rooms. Twelve additional Palafitos are located on the
resort's private beach.
