Chapter 528 These Truths
Chapter 528 These Truths
Gu Zhiyao was indeed downstairs at that moment.
She sat alone on the bench, holding her head and closing her eyes, radiating an aura of pain.
She remembered that when He Yi was still asleep, she hoped he would wake up soon. She felt she would do anything if he woke up.
But now that he has finally woken up, she is eager to escape again.
He asked her if she had forgiven him after staying by his side for so many days.
It's more than just forgiveness!
Before, all I thought about was that he could survive and wake up; I didn't think about anything else.
But now, it seems she has to face many things on her own.
But she didn't know how to face it, so she could only hide away and come here.
But should we just keep hiding like this?
impossible!
We'll have to face it eventually!
"Zhiyao?" After an unknown amount of time, a familiar voice suddenly called out from above.
Gu Zhiyao's body stiffened slightly, and she slowly raised her head, seeing Yifei's puzzled and worried expression.
Yifei immediately squatted down in front of her and continued, "Why did you come here all by yourself? Assistant Quan told me that your uncle woke up, did you know that?"
It turned out that Quan Xinyu had called him over, which meant it was also He Yi's idea.
Why was He Yi in such a hurry to call Yi Fei over?
Gu Zhiyao was also puzzled.
Seeing that she remained silent, Yifei continued with concern, "Are you... alright?"
“Yes, I know he’s awake. I just came down for a walk. Since he asked you to come over, you can go upstairs,” Gu Zhiyao said.
"Shall we go up together?" Yifei said, but he had a feeling that she wasn't as fine as she claimed; there was something clearly wrong with her aura.
Maybe it has something to do with my uncle?
"Did something unpleasant happen between you and your uncle? Logically, now that your uncle has woken up, you should be up there with him," Yifei continued.
Gu Zhiyao was taken aback.
"Let's go upstairs together. It's windy here, and you're pregnant and about to give birth. We can't afford any problems." Yifei took her hand directly.
Gu Zhiyao then stood up and walked into the building with him.
No one spoke the rest of the way.
Back in the ward, He Yi was taken aback to see them all together, a thousand thoughts flashing through his mind.
"Uncle, it's good that you're awake. Do you feel alright?" Yifei said casually.
He Yi quickly came to his senses, "Yes, the doctor has seen me and there are basically no problems. I should be able to be discharged in another week."
"That's good." Yifei continued with relief, but then seemed to have nothing more to say.
He Yi said some things he didn't want Gu Zhiyao to be there. He looked at Gu Zhiyao, wondering how to get her to leave, but he was also worried that something might happen if she left alone.
Fortunately, Chenchen and Niuniu returned at that moment.
After spending some time with He Yi, they went to find Gu Zhiyao first.
Upon seeing Gu Zhiyao, Niu Niu immediately said, "Mom, where did you go? My brother and I have been looking for you everywhere."
Seeing her daughter, Gu Zhiyao calmed down considerably. She reached out and wiped the sweat from Niu Niu's forehead, saying softly, "Mommy is going downstairs for a walk."
“Oh, no wonder my brother and I couldn’t find you. Luckily, my brother said he would come back first to see if you were back, otherwise we would have just gone downstairs and found nothing.” Niu Niu said cheerfully, “Daddy is finally awake! Mommy, aren’t you happy too?”
Gu Zhiyao's pretty face froze slightly for a moment, then she remained silent.
"Chenchen, come sit with Mom in the lounge next door for a while. Mom must be thirsty after being out for so long. Go get Mom a glass of water," He Yi suddenly said.
“Okay, Dad!” Chenchen replied, then smiled at Gu Zhiyao, “Mom, I’ll go with you.”
Gu Zhiyao hesitated for a moment, then gently placed her hand on her son's small but strong palm. She turned to say something to Yifei, but tried her best not to look at He Yi before walking out.
He Yi naturally sensed this scene and his heart was filled with emotion, but he didn't think much of it. He turned his attention back to Yi Fei and asked directly.
“My assistant has already told me about some things that happened while I was in a coma. He said he saw you and Gu Zhiyao talking for a long time, and then you both cried. Yifei, I'm sorry. I never thought such an accident would happen. Gu Zhiyao stayed by my side and took care of me. Maybe she felt guilty because she caused my injury and wanted to make it up to me. Don't think too much about it.”
Yi Fei was immediately moved. He stared at He Yi and then said, "Uncle, Zhi Yao and I made a promise that day. We would separate for a year. If she still intends to stay with me after a year, we will marry. But if she finds that she still can't love me, we will go our separate ways."
He Yi was deeply shocked.
Yifei's eyes darkened, and he continued, "All along, I've known that Zhiyao didn't have those feelings for me. When I had that accident, she made that promise to encourage me to survive, and I accepted it out of greed. How could someone like me be worthy of her entrusting her life to me?"
“Yifei, actually…” He Yi was still deeply shaken, and hesitated to speak.
Yifei raised his hand, signaling him not to rush to express his feelings, and continued, "It wasn't until your accident that I truly understood many things. Although I don't know how Gu Zhiyao treated me during the time I was in a coma, I think it must have been different from how she felt about you. For as long as you were in a coma, she was lost along with you. Her attention was entirely on you, and she didn't even care about Chenchen and Niuniu, or even herself!"
At first, I tried to comfort myself, constantly finding reasons to convince myself that she was only acting out of guilt, only hoping you would survive. But the truth tells me I was just deceiving myself. All these years, it's obvious she still loves you. She hid that love for various reasons until your accident, when your life hung in the balance. She couldn't control herself then. I often think, if something really happened to you, Gu Zhiyao probably wouldn't have survived either!
I proposed a one-year agreement to her, but deep down I knew that even that was self-deception. Let alone a year, even ten or decades, she wouldn't fall in love with me. Kind as she is, she must be forcing herself to love me. Why should I make her force herself to suffer like that? Since you, Uncle, can grant my wish, why can't I do the same? You donated a kidney to me and asked everyone not to tell me, not to tell Gu Zhiyao. Uncle, you can do all that, why can't I…”
“Yifei, I’m donating a kidney to you not because I feel guilty, nor because I want you to thank me, but because I feel it’s what I should do,” He Yi finally said.
