Chapter 11 Returning to Reality
Chapter 11 Returning to Reality
How similar this scene is!
Jiang Lin lowered his head, his gaze disdainful: "What do you think?"
Seeing the smile on Jiang Lin's lips, Wang Zhe's eyes began to panic: "Third brother, you wouldn't be so disloyal, would you?"
Ding Xuehui didn't know why the two had suddenly turned against each other, but she trusted Jiang Lin's judgment and looked at Wang Zhe in the snake pit with a puzzled expression.
Jiang Lin: "You and Guo Yuan are not new to this game, do I need to say more?"
Wang Zhe's tiger-like eyes widened, and after three seconds of silence, the innocence on his face vanished completely: "How did you find out?"
Jiang Lin: "The item you need to complete the game is the one you needed in your last game, so you firmly believe that this item will also exist in this game."
"And the injury on your hand, you said Guo Yuan told you that injuries in the game wouldn't affect the real world. But you were injured while escaping, and Guo Yuan was already unconscious at that time. How did he tell you that?"
"You doubt me because of these things?" Wang Zhe was unwilling to accept it.
Jiang Lin: "Actually, the most explosive point is that bowl of soup. Guo Yuan got infected, but you didn't."
Guo Yuan had always been very cautious, and Jiang Lin didn't think someone participating in the instance twice would be foolish enough to fall for the trap directly.
“You lied to him.” Jiang Lin guessed that the most likely scenario was that Wang Zhe pretended to drink the soup first, Guo Yuan observed Wang Zhe and thought there was no problem, so he drank the soup without worry, and in the end, he was left with nothing but bones.
"That's because he's stupid. How was I supposed to know he really drank it? You can't blame me for that!" Wang Zhe stopped arguing. "But I really didn't mean to lie to you. I was just afraid you'd overthink things and keep doubting me, so I might as well not say anything."
Ding Xuehui was stunned. She thought it was Wang Zhe, but it turned out that she was the big idiot.
"Third brother, think about it carefully. I haven't done anything wrong, have I? I may not have made any contributions, but I've certainly done my share of hard work!" Wang Zhe feigned weakness, but inwardly he was cursing. If Jiang Lin hadn't pulled him up, he would have really been done for here!
Jiang Lin had already seen through him. Wang Zhe appeared honest and simple, but in reality, he was cunning from head to toe: "Does our entry into Dead Soul Island have anything to do with you?"
Wang Zhe swallowed hard. The young man above him had handsome features and he didn't seem to have any murderous intent, but Wang Zhe felt inexplicably uneasy.
Wang Zhe: "I don't know. This game is very strange. You've all seen it. There's no way to explain it scientifically. I'm just an ordinary person, so I definitely can't control the game."
Jiang Lin: "How many times have you participated in the game?"
"The second time," Wang Zhe quickly explained when he saw Jiang Lin's somewhat disbelieving look, "It really is the second time. You'll know when you enter Dead Soul Island. Veterans don't like playing with newbies."
Jiang Lin's eyes flickered slightly, and he said with a smirk, "What, are you also getting into that clique thing?"
"There's no other way. The dungeons are getting harder and harder. We definitely need to find better teammates," Wang Zhe admitted frankly. "Everyone wants to clear the dungeons, and nobody wants to die."
Ding Xuehui lowered her head and remained silent. To the players, the Snake Fairy was indeed ferocious and terrifying, but what was even more despairing was that everyone knew that even if they survived the game, they would be faced with a new death dungeon.
The atmosphere was eerily quiet. Wang Zhe felt as if his heart was being gripped tightly by the young man's invisible gaze, making it hard to breathe.
"Third brother, let's still... be brothers, okay?"
Observing Jiang Lin's expression and noticing the smile on the young man's lips, Ding Xuehui guessed that Jiang Lin would not really kill Wang Zhe. Only then did she speak up for Wang Zhe, saying, "Jiang Lin, you should pull him up. They are classmates."
"Alright, go ahead, don't wet your pants!" Jiang Lin chuckled, and just as Ding Xuehui had predicted, he threw the rope down.
After a three-second pause, Wang Zhe excitedly grabbed the rope and started climbing up: "You scared me to death! I'll have to give Haidilao a good talking-to later to calm my nerves!"
The tense atmosphere instantly eased with just a few words from Wang Zhe.
Jiang Lin smiled helplessly: "What? Do you think I'm that ruthless?"
“No, not exactly,” Wang Zhe put his arm around the young man’s shoulder, clutching his chest and shaking his head. “You’re a master. This is just the weak showing respect to a master.”
After saying that, Wang Zhe winked at Ding Xuehui, indicating his gratitude for her help.
At the extraction point, green crystals emit a beautiful, soft light. Simply touch the crystals to leave this game world.
Ding Xuehui looked around and finally sighed, "What do you think will happen to the villagers after we leave?"
"Who knows? If they've all turned into snakes, then they'll probably be snakes for life," Wang Zhe shrugged.
This is the curse of the snake spirit.
They cursed these villagers to become the very thing they loathed and hated, to live in eternal agony, and death became their release.
"Would there have been a more perfect ending if we hadn't done that?" Ding Xuehui, although she doesn't play games much, knows that games have many different endings.
If they could come up with a better solution, could they also have a happy ending?
Perhaps both humans and the snake spirit can find salvation?
"What are you thinking!" Wang Zhe looked at Ding Xuehui like she was a saint: "Seven of us came in, and only three of us came out alive. What do you care about these NPCs, happy ending or sad ending? Did you get your head stuck in a door?"
Jiang Lin chuckled: "Wang Zhe is right, only those who survive have the right to discuss the ending!"
Only those who survive have the right to discuss the ending… Ding Xuehui’s gaze towards Jiang Lin grew increasingly complex. The challenges were getting harder and harder, and the best solution she faced was to bind Jiang Lin to her and have him help her clear the levels. She felt that Jiang Lin had some affection for her, but it didn’t seem enough.
Leaving the game world wasn't painful; it felt like falling from a great height in a dream and returning to reality. But his real body felt as heavy as if it were filled with lead. Jiang Lin lifted his heavy eyelids, and the distinctive smell of the hospital filled his nostrils.
"Doctor! He's awake!"
The familiar voice coming from beside him caught Jiang Lin's attention. The young man, dressed in a well-tailored white shirt and suit pants, pressed the call button urgently and shouted towards the outside.
Jiang Lin was stunned for three seconds when she saw the doctors file in from outside. After the examination, the ward became quiet again. Jiang Lin looked through the crack in the door at the man outside who was talking to the doctor.
Ji Xingyi's appearance is truly outstanding; even a small profile shot is enough to captivate the eye.
Although she was only a few months older than Jiang Lin, she had a mature demeanor that belied her student status.
Jiang Lin watched the young man who had finished his conversation and entered through the door, a slight smile playing on his lips: "What are you doing here?"
