Chapter 53 Cardboard box? Doesn't it feel uncomfortable?
"The last room..."
Eve walked down the aisle of the carriage, looking at the room numbers on the wall.
The Star Train has many carriages. Although most of the carriages are used to store supplies, there are still quite a few carriages reserved for housing.
"found it."
Eve finally stopped at the door of a room.
She pressed the doorbell.
The "ding-dong" sound was followed by endless silence.
"Hmm?" Eve asked, puzzled.
She touched the door, a green light flashed, and the door opened instantly.
Eve walked in with a puzzled look on her face.
The room was dimly lit and dusty.
"Cough cough... Are you sure this isn't a storage room?" Eve covered her nose and continued forward.
The room was quite spacious, but it was very empty, with only a few shelves and cardboard boxes.
"Hmm? Where did Little Star go?" Eve looked around but couldn't find any trace of Star.
"Strange, could she have just gone out? But she's not in the observation car either," Eve muttered to herself in confusion.
Just as she was about to leave the room, she noticed a shivering cardboard box near the corner of the wall.
"Ok?"
Eve looked at the box and walked over in surprise.
At the same time, a green magic circle lit up in her hand.
As she took a few steps closer, the cardboard box suddenly shook.
Eve frowned slightly, pointing the magic circle in her hand at the cardboard box.
Just as I was about to fire a beam of light, a chilling voice suddenly came from inside the box.
"It's so cold...it's so cold..."
“This is…” Eve found the voice increasingly familiar.
She immediately canceled the spell and went to the box to examine it.
Inside the box, a small, shivering gray creature was curled up.
Eve looked closely and realized, "Isn't that a star?"
"Little Star? What are you doing lying here? A cardboard box? Isn't it uncomfortable?" Eve asked, puzzled.
Xing looked up and wiped her nose. "Don't you know? The train conductor said this was the room assigned to me, so I came here."
Eve immediately covered her face. "And what about last night? You slept in this cardboard box too?"
Xing nodded, trembling.
Eve sighed.
This kid is so honest; he just sleeps in that cardboard box without hesitation.
They didn't even ask Himeko for a bed or blankets.
Himeko is the train's navigator; you usually tell Himeko what you need or what daily necessities you lack.
Eve reached out her hand, and green starlight enveloped the star's body.
Suddenly, Xing felt a warmth and stopped shivering.
Eve then looked around the room and estimated, "I don't know when this room will be finished."
"Never mind, you wait here for now."
After Eve finished speaking, she quickly left Xing's room.
A short while later, Eve entered the room carrying two blankets.
Upon hearing Eve's voice, Xing popped her little gray head out of the cardboard box, her ahoge (cowlick) bobbing up and down.
After Eve used the wind of the ancient oath of freedom to clear a clean spot, she spread the blanket on it.
"One of these two quilts is the one I left over, and the other is a spare. You can make do with it for now."
"If you need a bed and other personal items, I'll ask Himeko for them later. As for the renovations and furniture, I'll help you find some when we get to the next planet."
"You'll have to sleep on the floor for now."
"Okay, Mom!" Xing immediately rushed out of the cardboard box and darted into the blanket.
Feeling the warmth of the blanket and the scent left by Eve after she slept, Xing suddenly felt like she was floating on clouds.
In a short while, she had already fallen asleep.
Seeing Xing's face turn into a cat's, Eve smiled with relief.
This sight suddenly reminded Eve of Narcida.
Sigh, I wonder when I'll be able to go back to Teyvat...
Just then, Pam's voice suddenly came over the train's loudspeaker.
"Hello...hello...Attention passengers, attention passengers."
"The train is about to undergo a jump. Passengers, please proceed to the train hall immediately."
"To reiterate, the train is about to undergo a jump. All passengers, please proceed to the train hall immediately."
Upon hearing the broadcast, Eve immediately woke up Star.
Xing rubbed her eyes and asked, her words muffled, "What happened? Did the train explode again?"
Eve's smile froze instantly.
"No, the little rabbit is telling us to go to the observation car; the train is about to begin its leap."
"Leap?" Xing asked, puzzled.
"Relying solely on train travel, it would probably take a lifetime to reach a single planet. However, trains can use jumps to travel through hyperspace, which can save a significant amount of time."
Xing nodded blankly, clearly not understanding.
Eve shook her head helplessly. "Never mind, I'll take her to the carriage lobby first."
Observation carriage.
Eve led Star into the carriage lobby.
Apart from Dan Heng, Ji Zi and the others had been waiting in the observation car for quite some time.
"Eve Eve, you're finally here!!" March 7th waved to Eve as soon as she saw her.
"There are stars too!"
Pam then said, "They're so slow! But at least everyone's here now, Pam."
Xing Huan looked around and asked, puzzled, "Where is Dan Heng?"
"The same as always, he won't come," Eve said calmly.
“That’s right, so we don’t need to worry about him.” Pam nodded.
"Alright, alright, you guys quickly find a place to sit down, don't run around the train like the passengers on March 7th."
