Chapter 230 Drunkenness
Chapter 230 Drunkenness
Aunt Lin had told me about Song Yafei's drunkenness several times, and I couldn't help but feel a little worried.
That day, after arranging things at the restaurant, I went home early, intending to wait for her to come home so we could chat.
Even though I don't want to get involved, Aunt Lin keeps nagging, so I have to deal with it.
But even after I finished washing up and sat on the bed for a long time, I still didn't see it.
It was almost midnight when I finally heard the car coming back.
I got up and went to the balcony. A little while later, I saw Assistant Luo helping the drunk Song Yafei into the villa.
Looks like he drank quite a bit this time.
I left the room and came to the stairwell, where I saw Assistant Luo helping her upstairs.
Upon reaching the stairwell, Assistant Luo handed Song Yafei to me, saying, "Sir, I'm leaving President Song in your care now. I'll be leaving now."
We had indeed drunk quite a bit. Song Yafei leaned limply against me, and Assistant Luo handed her over to me without any ceremony before turning around and going downstairs.
I've been bothering him a lot lately. Even though his job is like this, there's no reason for him to keep working overtime until late at night.
"Yafei, let me help you back to your room."
I don't know if my voice woke her up.
Suddenly, she shook off my hand, turned her head and glanced at me, refusing my help.
He staggered toward the master bedroom.
I stared blankly at my empty hand, a feeling I couldn't quite describe welling up inside me.
A loud bang snapped me back to reality.
I looked up and saw Song Yafei lying in front of the master bedroom door, holding her forehead. The door wasn't open, but she had been knocked down.
I quickly went over and brushed her hair aside to check. There was a small bump on her head. "How are you? Does it hurt?"
Song Yafei didn't speak, she just kept her head down and didn't move.
Her appearance startled me. "What's wrong? Does it hurt a lot? Let me rub it for you, okay?"
When dealing with a drunk person, the only thing you can do is speak softly and gently.
She still didn't speak, and all I could see was the top of her head.
Soon after, I heard her sobbing.
I was a little flustered. Since she became the president of the Song Group, she had never shed a tear easily.
Even at Grandpa Song's funeral, she could only swallow her tears.
I was worried that she might have been badly hit, given how loud the noise was.
I didn't dare to hesitate. "Does it hurt a lot? I'll take you to see a doctor right away."
I bent down to hug her, and Song Yafei finally looked up, her eyelashes wet with tears.
Her beautiful eyes were veiled in mist, her gaze a bottomless abyss of sorrow.
The moment I looked at her, tears welled up in my eyes.
I felt bad and no longer believed that her sadness was just from hitting her head.
"Zhang Tian, it hurts so much, it hurts so much!"
Song Yafei clutched her chest, muttering softly, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
Her cries filled me with sorrow.
I know she's been like this lately because of Grandpa Song's passing. Although the funeral is over, she hasn't recovered yet, which is why she's been drinking herself into oblivion night after night.
The pain in my heart was something I could not confide in anyone, and I could only endure it silently.
She finally couldn't hold back anymore, which is why she did this; hitting her head was just a trigger for her emotions.
But I'm also glad she was able to vent, otherwise I don't know how much more pain she would have had to endure.
I didn't retract my outstretched arms, and Song Yafei leaned into my arms, clutching the corner of my coat tightly.
I managed to hold her close, hoping to comfort her by hugging her and gently patting her back.
From the very beginning when I brought up divorce, all I wanted was for us to part ways peacefully; I never intended to hurt her.
After all, we've known each other for many years, and I hoped she could find some comfort at this time.
But it seems there's no one around her who can offer her such comfort.
We stayed in that position for a long time, and I let her vent in my arms, just quietly protecting her.
Once she had calmed down, I picked her up and placed her on the sofa in the master bedroom.
I got up to go to the bathroom to get a hot towel to wipe her down, but before I could turn around, she grabbed my hand.
She looked up at me, her cheeks flushed, and her eyes seemed somewhat dazed.
"Don't go!"
I paused for a moment, then patted her hand. "I'm not leaving. I'll go get you a towel to wipe yourself down; it'll make you feel better."
But she still wouldn't let go, just kept muttering for me not to leave.
Gradually, I began to understand that perhaps that wasn't what she meant.
Even though she was drunk, I couldn't bring myself to agree to her request.
She wouldn't let go, so I sat down next to her, and she leaned in close. Just as I was wondering whether to push her away, she suddenly asked, "After we break up, are you planning to stay in Hancheng forever?"
Her sudden question made me wonder if she was drunk or sober.
Before I could answer, she continued, "If you left me, who would you choose? Xie Wenyao? Hu Mei? Or Han Nian?"
Her question instantly calmed me down, and I stopped thinking about anything else.
I had never thought about this issue, because these people were never in my future plans.
Besides, with my short lifespan of only a few years, how could I possibly harm another woman?
However, I don't want to tell her any of this, because I know very well what kind of trouble it would cause.
She gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Never mind, whoever it is, it won't be me, right?"
That night, she talked on and on, and I listened the whole time, only occasionally giving a response.
That convinced me that she really had drunk too much; otherwise, Song Yafei is usually not a chatterbox.
The next day, I woke up on the sofa in the master bedroom, but Song Yafei was no longer there.
When I went downstairs after washing up in my room, I didn't expect to see Assistant Luo.
Assistant Luo seemed to have been waiting for me on purpose. After greeting me, he told me...
"Mr. Song needs to go abroad. Could you please pack his luggage for him? I'll take it with me right away."
I used to do this kind of thing all the time, and Assistant Luo knows that.
Without thinking much, I turned around and went upstairs, and Assistant Luo followed me up.
However, Assistant Luo seemed a bit unusual this time. He usually handled things strictly by the book, but this time he looked so hesitant that it seemed like he had something to say.
As I was packing my clothes, Assistant Luo stood right behind me. "Assistant Luo, do you have something to say?"
Assistant Luo is always very mindful of boundaries, and he only spoke after I said that.
"This time, President Song went abroad to see Mr. Yu. But please don't overthink it, sir. It seems that Mr. Yu doesn't have much time left."
"Really?" I paused, holding the clothes in my hand. "Why is Assistant Luo suddenly telling me all this?"
"I just hope that President Song and Mr. [Name] can have a good outcome."
"President Song has never cared about Mr. Yu; it was just Mr. Yu's wishful thinking. But President Song has deep feelings for Mr. Yu."
