Chapter 807 - Veritas the Wicked Dragon
Chapter 807 - Veritas the Wicked Dragon
The Seal Hall stood at the center of the Sealing Gate Sect and was the most important building in the sect. On the way, Han Wu and Qin Shuang passed numerous patrolling guards. The guards seemed to know they were Elder Tu Bie’s new students and did not stop them.
The guardian inside the Seal Hall was another elder, though older in appearance than Elder Tu Bie and the others, which likely meant he was even stronger. Han Wu and Qin Shuang respectfully stated their purpose.
The old guardian glanced at them and raised a hand. Two items floated over. One was a sheet of paper for Qin Shuang that listed ten eight-Ring Lightning Seal Arts for her to choose from. The other was a booklet for Han Wu that contained every seven-Ring Seal Art in the Sealing Gate Sect’s collection.
Qin Shuang quickly chose one called the Chain Lightning Seal. It created a seal that bounced between targets via a conductive lightning chain. Though not particularly amazing against a single enemy, it was stupidly powerful against groups.
Han Wu carefully scanned the booklet and found one that suited him perfectly. It was called the Elemental Flux Seal. The minimum requirement was having five elemental attributes. Each additional element also increased the success rate by 2%. The Elemental Flux Seal was quite literally made for someone with many elemental attributes, like Han Wu.
The guardian then retrieved their selected Seal Arts and informed them that these could only be studied inside the Seal Hall. Removing them from the Seal Hall was strictly prohibited, and they would suffer serious consequences if they violated this rule.
Han Wu and Qin Shuang each claimed a practice room to study their respective arts. The quiet environment helped Han Wu concentrate. With his twelve-Ring strength, learning a seven-Ring Seal Art was akin to a professor reviewing a middle school exam. The entire process was effortless, and it only took three hours for Han Wu to master it.
The seven-Ring Elemental Flux Seal effectively had the power of a nine-Ring Seal Art in his hands thanks to his sheer number of attributes. After mastering it, Han Wu did not leave immediately. As far as anyone here knew, he was only a seven-Ring Seal Master. Learning it too quickly would only bring suspicion and make it harder for them to gather intelligence.
Thus, he stayed in the practice room, eventually drifting off to sleep while waiting.
“Defier, is that you? Defier?” someone called in his dreams.
After a moment, Han Wu shot up. Only a member of the Great Dragon race would know that title. Was there really a dragon inside the Sealing Gate Sect?
He listened carefully and heard it again. It was faint but unmistakable.
“Defier, it really is you!” The voice was overjoyed.
“I’m the Defier,” Han Wu said, on guard. “Who are you?”
“I’m Veritas, the Wicked Dragon. Break the seal now and get me out!” Veritas hissed urgently.
“The seal? Where?” Han Wu asked.
“It’s right beneath your feet. The entire building is part of the seal. Destroy the building, and my dragon soul can break free.”
Han Wu was not particularly moved. “Let me ask you one question first: Why exactly should I save you?”
There was a long moment of silence.
“Save me, and I’ll give you the location of a treasure that only I know,” Veritas finally said. “One that even a Dragon King would envy.”
Han Wu struggled not to grin. In certain regards, Han Wu was technically already the Black Dragon King. Still, he couldn’t quell his curiosity about this treasure.
“I don’t trust you. Give me access to the treasure first,” Han Wu said directly.
“Save me, and I’ll give you the information,” Veritas replied, agitation audible in its tone. “If not, we have nothing to discuss.”
Han Wu laughed coldly. “Then we have nothing to discuss. You’re the one sealed up, not me. I won’t stay here forever. Who knows how many years it’ll take for you to meet another of your own kind once I leave.”
Realizing it had no chips to negotiate at all, Veritas gave in. “Fine. I’ll tell you. But you have to swear to come back and free me once you have the treasure.”
“I swear on the name of the Defier,” Han Wu vowed. “If the treasure you describe is real and I obtain it, I’ll come back and free you from this seal.”
“Very well, the treasure is hidden beneath an altar to the northeast of this forest. Breaking through the altar requires a powerful unsealing technique. I happen to have a ten-Ring unsealing technique here.”
Han Wu’s smile widened. “Then share it with me.”
Veritas conveyed the technique in the language of the Great Dragons. Han Wu carried the title of Defier and had absorbed Alpheus’s blood, making him a half-dragon even without a full transformation, so he could understand the language well enough.
After translating the technique, he started practicing it. A ten-Ring unsealing technique was much harder to learn than the seven-Ring Elemental Flux Seal. It took an entire day and night for him to fully comprehend and master it.
The technique was called the Wicked Dragon Ascension, and it was highly effective at breaking seals that were fixed to one spot.
Once he was done, Han Wu left the Seal Hall. Qin Shuang’s cultivation of the Chain Lightning Seal had been smooth. Her nine-Ring ability meant learning an eight-Ring Sealing Art was an easy task.
Qin Shuang was intrigued upon learning the situation with Veritas. After all, what kind of treasure could make even a Dragon King envious?
Han Wu cautioned her not to be too optimistic. Great Dragons were a powerful race, but not all of them could be trusted. Veritas, the Wicked Dragon, could very well be lying.
Before heading out to search for the treasure, they needed to prepare. The next day, he informed Elder Tu Bie of their departure before leaving.
On their journey, the two combed the Coiling Dragon Forest for beasts with unusual elemental attributes. Any unusual element type, regardless of Ring Count, was pulled into his consciousness using the Four Guardians Seal. The Feral Beast suddenly found its once-quiet existence growing considerably more lively. Its days of sleeping and staring off into space were dotted with periods of intimidating the newcomers.
Three days later, they arrived at the described location.
Han Wu activated Wicked Dragon Ascension. His gathered energy formed an enormous grey-scaled Great Dragon hundreds of meters long, which dove into the altar. The altar shattered, and an overwhelming evil surged out from the wreckage. A roar shook the world.
“You pathetic trash of the Sealing Gate Sect, the infamous Wicked Dragon is free!”
