Chapter 145 Surprise

Chapter 145 Surprise

Gene thought it best not to tease her anymore; who knows what else she might say.

"Anna, it's me!"

Gene regained his voice.

Diana froze for a second; she recognized the voice all too well. She flew over and hugged Gene's neck.

"Grandpa Gene! I've missed you so much! Why did it take you so long to come see me!"

Diana spoke against her will; she had recently forgotten that Gene had asked her to go back, and to cover it up, she had to assume it was true.

Gene's spellcasting was interrupted by Diana's combo, and he was about to ask why she didn't go back to find him.

"Anna, Grandpa misses you too. He has some things to take care of these days, which is why he hasn't been able to come see you."

Diana rolled her eyes.

"Grandpa Gene, you haven't come to see me in so long. As compensation, I'll let you drive me back to Oliver City!"

Gene laughed helplessly.

"Okay...okay, let Grandpa give Anna a ride this time. Hold on tight, we're off!"

Diana climbed to the top of the dragon's head, sat down, and even grabbed the dragon's horns.

"Ready! Let's go!"

Gene flapped his enormous wings, a gust of wind swept by, and his figure flew away into the distance.

The oncoming wind whipped Diana's silvery-white hair, making it shimmer in the sunlight. If she were to wear a suit of silvery-white armor, she would truly resemble a dragon knight.

"Anna, I haven't seen those three guys these past few days. What have they been up to?"

Gene had a bad feeling. He seemed to have let something slip, as if he had said that he had been watching Diana all along. But Diana didn't seem to think that much about it.

Diana thought for a moment and then revealed everything about Jilong.

"Sister Dolly goes out as soon as it gets dark and doesn't come back until dawn, and she always smells of alcohol!"

"Brother Klin leaves for the train every day on time, and he doesn't come back until the train stops running!"

"As for Uncle Nar, he was very interested in the electricity generated by the power plant, so he started working there. He even said he would earn money to buy me delicious food!"

Gene's lips twitched. 'These three unreliable guys, sent to protect Anna! They're having so much fun! Watch how I deal with them!'

"They seem to be having a lot of fun! They really think I let them come out to play!"

Diana sensed that Jill was in trouble.

"Grandpa Gene, please don't blame them. Of course, they're out here to have fun! At least don't blame Uncle Nar; he's working very hard!"

Raikkonal didn't know that he escaped a beating simply because he said he wanted to earn money to buy Diana delicious food.

As the two chatted, they could already see Oliver City. Diana pointed north.

"Grandpa Gene, let's go over there. Master Dean is still waiting for me to come back!"

Gene adjusted his direction and flew in the direction Diana pointed.

······

Inside the control tower.

"Dean! The 'Diana' seems to be back! But there's no response to our calls!"

Adolf breathed a sigh of relief.

"It's good that you're back. It seems the test flight was a success!"

"Dean! The 'Diana' has entered the observation range."

Just then, a staff member in the control tower holding binoculars spoke with a trembling voice.

"What...what is that thing! Hmm...it doesn't look like the 'Diana'!"

Adolf took the binoculars and looked in that direction.

Through the telescope, a white object can be seen approaching. It's certain that it's not an airplane because the object is alive; you can see it flapping its wings.

"It's a dragon!"

Adolf's words made everyone in the command tower tense. They were both curious and afraid. Few people had actually seen this legendary creature, and rumors said that the dragons were extremely dangerous.

As the dragon drew closer, Adolf saw a white figure sitting atop its head. He rubbed his eyes.

"Anna?"

Adolf left the command tower and went outside. Looking at the approaching dragon in the distance, he guessed that Diana would always do something unexpected, but he still didn't expect things to develop like this.

"Good heavens! You go out in a plane and come back riding a dragon! Is that even possible?!"

A gust of wind blew in his face, scattering the dust on the ground. Adolf looked up as the enormous dragon slowly descended, and the oppressive feeling made him feel extremely small.

Diana jumped down and landed in front of Adolf.

"Master, I'm back!"

Gene rapidly shrank, transforming into human form. Adolf, upon seeing him clearly, was filled with astonishment. 'Isn't that Grandpa Anna? Could Anna be a dragon?! No wonder she's so powerful! That makes perfect sense!'

After Adolf learned that Diana was a demon lord, he understood that she was not human, since it was impossible for a human to become a demon lord.

Adolf glanced at Gene, who was standing behind Diana.

"Anna, where's the plane? Is there anything wrong with it?"

Diana patted the bracelet on her wrist.

"Everything's fine inside."

Adolf nodded.

"Then take it out! We still need to inspect the aircraft."

Diana put her hands behind her back, looking unhappy.

"Master! Didn't you say this plane was a gift for me? How can you take it back!"

Adolf sighed, "Is he really that possessive of his food?! I didn't say I wouldn't give it to you. And can't you control your grandpa?! He's practically radiating murderous intent!"

"Ahem~ The plane is definitely a gift for you, but we still need to collect some data, so we'll return it to you tomorrow!"

Diana took the plane out and repeatedly told herself that she would come to pick it up tomorrow!

Only after Adolf's repeated assurances did Diana leave with Gene.

Adolf watched the two disappear and shook his head.

"Anna, when will you grow up!"

A staff member approached.

"Dean, was that really a dragon?"

Adolf glanced at him.

"Don't pry into other people's business!"

······

After Diana teleported Gene back to the manor, she told him about some of the things that had happened during that time.

Gene basically knew everything, since he watched Diana's live streams every day, but he still listened attentively and occasionally chimed in.

Diana recalled the scene she had just seen in the sky and recounted what had happened.

"Grandpa Gene, do you know what's going on? Why can't it fly any higher after reaching a certain altitude?"

Gene was speechless. Who would fly that high for no reason? However, he had encountered this situation before when he was traveling, but he encountered it when he was heading towards the edge of the continent. He had tried many methods, but he could not get through that invisible barrier at all.

Gene shook his head.

"I don't know what's going on. I discovered it a long time ago. That barrier is like some kind of restriction, only limiting powerful creatures."

“A rock can be easily passed through, and some ordinary wild animals can also pass through. I have studied it for a long time but I still can’t figure it out.”

Diana scratched her head.

"Let's not talk about that anymore. Brother Klin and Uncle Nar should be back soon, and Sister Dolly should be waking up around the same time!"

"They'll be so happy to see you, Grandpa Gene!"

Gene smiled and nodded. 'I'll give them a good surprise!'

"It was quite a pleasant surprise!"
