Chapter 336: Time Tower Compass, Dominik’s Offer [1]
Chapter 336: Time Tower Compass, Dominik’s Offer [1]
Dominik walked toward his large wooden desk at the center of the office, and from one of its drawers, he pulled out a glowing book with a strange eye emblem on its cover.
He opened the ancient looking book and after turning a few pages with deliberate slowness, he finally found what he was looking for and stopped.
Dominik grinned as he somehow extracted the information from the book with a wave of his hand and made it into a physical item, which he then tossed toward Leon without any warning.
"Here you go," the man grinned as his eyes glowed with an eerie light, "This should help you find what you’re looking for without too much trouble."
Leon gazed at the item he had been given, examining its properties and reading its description carefully.
[Time Tower Compass: Will point toward the location of the "Time Tower" at all times.]
"You will need a [Secret Realm Token] to enter the tower though," Dominik explained further, crossing his arms, "And you will also need to complete its challenge successfully, because if you fail even once, you will be locked out forever and never get another chance."
’Already knew that from [Divine Answer],’ Leon thought to himself, not showing any reaction on his face.
Regardless of his future plans, Leon was actually incredibly satisfied with how this conversation had gone, and though that did not change the fact that he would eventually get rid of Dominik soon enough, getting help from an enemy was still a great outcome in his book.
Without even knowing it, Dominik was actively helping to create his own grave and the graves of the gods he served, which was quite ironic when you thought about it.
The only way Leon would ever show mercy to one of these people is if they had never allied with the gods to begin with, and in Dominik’s case, that alliance was already long established and impossible to undo.
Leon was immediately about to leave this place after placing the compass safely in his storage space, but as he was about to turn toward the door and walk out, the chairman spoke up again.
"Hold on a minute, don’t leave just yet," Dominik said calmly.
Snap!
Dominik snapped his fingers loudly, and the door to his office immediately closed shut on its own, leaving the two of them trapped inside with no easy way out.
’...Here we go,’ Leon groaned internally, ’I knew this wouldn’t be easy, nothing ever is.’
"Don’t be scared, I mean you no harm," Dominik shook his head reassuringly as he saw Celeste tremble slightly from the sudden door closing, "I just want to ask you... something important."
His expression became more sinister and serious, and with another snap of his finger, two glowing orbs appeared on the desk, each one radiating a different kind of energy.
Then with a wide grin spreading across his face, he asked a question that made Leon’s soul tremble with recognition and anger.
"Have you two ever heard of the [God of War] and the [God of Magic] before?" Dominik asked, his eyes watching their reactions closely.
Celeste simply tilted her head in confusion, because she had never heard of these gods before in her entire life.
"They are our saviors, and the ones that grant us strength and power beyond normal means," Dominik started his speech, the aura around him rising with intensity, "Because of them, we have grown tremendously as a domain, able to rise to such power that others can only dream of."
Leon remained completely calm throughout the speech, not letting a single emotion show on his face no matter what.
"All of our students at their graduation ceremony join one of the two gods as they grant them incredible power, whether you are wielding swords or magic, one of them will take you in and bless you," Dominik continued passionately.
"When linked to them, your strength will truly become terrific and unstoppable, and perhaps, you will be able to help with something even greater in the future when the time comes."
"I-Is that actually true..." Celeste’s eyes widened with a mix of curiosity and suspicion, "This seems... almost too good to be true, like there’s a catch."
"Most of our students have the same reaction as you do at first," Dominik grinned knowingly, "It seems too good to be true, I understand that completely, but eventually, they all realize that it is for the best and accept the blessing gladly."
Dominik closed the ancient book he had grabbed earlier to help Leon, placing it carefully back in his desk drawer, then turned once more toward them with an expectant look.
"The choice is yours to make, but I am sure you will make the right one, Celestial, UndyingPhoenix, especially since you both use strength and magic to fight."
Inside the orbs that Dominik had shown them were two figures cloaked in complete darkness, one of them with its hand lifted into a massive fireball, and the other standing in the middle of a battlefield surrounded by kneeling soldiers, a glowing sword in its hand.
’God of Magic and God of War, those assholes again,’ Leon thought bitterly, recognizing the imagery immediately.
Leon had never met them in person in his past life, but the simple fact that they were willing to recruit players from here for their unknown cause was enough for him to hate them.
Funnily enough, the [God of Magic] was the one that had given Leon his forbidden spell after he found that secret realm back in the lower domain, which was an interesting twist of fate.
It would be absolutely hilarious if he managed to kill that god using that same spell one day, though Leon seriously doubted that would happen right now given the power gap between them.
"Do the [God of Magic] and [God of War] actually come here to give us the powers themselves? I am genuinely interested," Leon asked with feigned curiosity, "Also, can I accept a blessing from both of them at the same time if I wanted to?"
Seeing that Celestial was genuinely interested in his offer, Dominik tried his best to hide his demonic smile and instead replied.
"They do not come here in person, no, but thanks to their immense power they can send their grace even from the [Eternal Domain], which they will help you access soon enough," Dominik explained, "And yes, you can accept two blessings at once, usually that is impossible for most people, but since these two gods are close comrades, they accept that arrangement."
