God Slayer: Make Up for the Past

Chapter 39: Evil Spirits Obstructing Evacuation

Chapter 39: Evil Spirits Obstructing Evacuation

"It's it..." Chu Feng's voice was low and tense, the knuckles of his fingers gripping the Demon Slayer Blade turning white. The eerie sound still echoed through the station hall, like countless tiny insects crawling into people's eardrums, gnawing at their sanity. Panic spread like a plague, and the crowd began to shove and jostle, their cries and screams blending into a suffocating cacophony.

"Calm down! Everyone, calm down! Follow the instructions and evacuate in an orderly manner!" Officer Hu shouted at the top of his lungs, but his voice was quickly drowned out by the wave of panic. Some passengers were thrown to the ground, their luggage scattered everywhere. They tried to get up, crying, only to be knocked down again by the crowd behind them.

"Damn it!" Chu Feng cursed. He knew he had to control the situation quickly, otherwise the consequences would be disastrous. He brandished his Demon Slayer Blade, beheading several low-level evil spirits that had taken advantage of the chaos to approach. Then he shouted to Pan Yue, "Pan Yue, you continue to evacuate the crowd. I'll go find the source of the noise!"

Pan Yue nodded solemnly. He understood Chu Feng's intention. The most important thing now was to evacuate the passengers safely, and finding the evil spirit leader was the key to stopping this chaos.

At this moment, a young female passenger, Qin, was knocked down in the panic, her ankle twisted, and she groaned in pain. The crowd around her was still fleeing madly, and no one noticed her at all.

Chu Feng's heart tightened upon seeing this. He couldn't bear to watch an innocent passenger get trampled and injured. He rushed over, helped Qin up, and quickly checked her injuries. "Can you still walk?" he asked anxiously.

Qin Lu's face was pale, tears welled up in her eyes, she bit her lip and shook her head.

Chu Feng's brows furrowed tightly. He knew now was not the time to hesitate. He carried Qin on his back and shouted to Technician Bai who was not far away, "Technician Bai, come and help!"

Technician Bai was stunned for a moment, then reacted and rushed over to assist Chu Feng. He supported Passenger Qin, trying to keep her balance. Chu Feng, on the other hand, carefully observed his surroundings, trying to prevent any attacks from evil spirits.

At the moment when Chu Feng was distracted, several evil spirits lurking in the shadows suddenly rushed out and attacked the crowd. The crowd fell into panic again, and screams rang out one after another.

"Chu Feng, be careful!" Pan Yue's voice came from not far away.

Chu Feng turned back abruptly, only to see several evil spirits approaching, their sharp claws flashing with cold light. He handed Qin the passenger to Technician Bai, then brandished the Demon Slayer Knife and rushed forward to meet them.

"Quick! Everyone evacuate to the emergency exit! Don't panic!" Pan Yue's voice was particularly clear and powerful in the chaos. While directing the crowd, he used the station's fire-fighting equipment to spray a large amount of foam, temporarily blocking the attack of the evil spirits.

Seeing Pan Yue's calm demeanor, Chu Feng felt a little more at ease. He had to get rid of these evil spirits as soon as possible and then go to support Pan Yue.

Suddenly, the creepy voice sounded again on the radio: "...Interesting... Really interesting..."

Chu Feng wielded his Demon-Slaying Blade, its blade slicing through the air, stirring up a biting gust of cold wind as it chopped several incoming evil spirits into pieces. Black evil spirit blood splattered, quickly dissipating into the air, leaving no trace. His movements were swift and agile, like a battle-hardened warrior, effortlessly maneuvering through the swarm of evil spirits. Every swing of his blade was precise and deadly, without a single wasted movement.

Elsewhere, Pan Yue calmly directed the panicked passengers. Using the station's public address system, he clearly announced the evacuation routes and instructed passengers on how to avoid attacks from evil spirits. "Don't panic, everyone! Follow the instructions! Stay calm and you'll survive!" His voice was steady and powerful, as if carrying a magical power that gradually calmed the originally panicked crowd. He also used the station's firefighting equipment to spray a large amount of foam, temporarily resisting the attacks of the evil spirits and buying precious time for the passengers' evacuation. Seeing Pan Yue's calm demeanor, Chu Feng felt a surge of relief in his heart, knowing that he had made the right choice of partner.

"Damn it! You've messed up the station!" A sharp voice broke the brief silence. Chu Feng looked in the direction of the voice and saw a man in a suit and carrying a briefcase, Sun Shangren, pointing at them and shouting. "You've delayed my business! You have to compensate me for my losses!"

Merchant Sun had previously complained about Chu Feng and the others because the evacuation had delayed his business, and now, seeing the station in even greater chaos, he was furious. Not only did he refuse to cooperate with the evacuation, he also incited the surrounding passengers. "Don't listen to them! They're a bunch of scammers! They trapped us here just to rob us of our belongings!"

Some passengers, already shaken by fear, became agitated again upon hearing Sun Shangren's words. They no longer obeyed Chu Feng's command and even began to push and shove, trying to break through the blockade.

Chu Feng's rage instantly ignited. He glared at Sun Shangren fiercely, the demon-slaying knife in his hand humming softly, as if thirsting for blood. "Shut up!" he roared, his voice filled with suppressed anger. "This is a matter of life and death, and you're still thinking about your business? Do you have any humanity at all?"

Sun Shangren was startled by Chu Feng's aura, but he still stiffened his neck and refused to give in. "I don't care! You must compensate me for my losses! Otherwise, I will..."

Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by a resounding voice. "Enough!" Officer Hu pushed through the crowd, walked up to Merchant Sun, and shouted sternly. "What time is it now? You're still making trouble here! Do you know that these monsters can eat people?" He pointed at the evil spirits struggling in the foam and spoke sternly. "If you dare to make trouble again, I will arrest you for obstructing public service!"

Officer Hu's words left Merchant Sun speechless. Although he was greedy for money, he also valued his life. Seeing those ferocious evil spirits, he finally realized the seriousness of the situation and dared not say a word.

Officer Hu turned to face the passengers, his tone softening. "I know everyone is scared, but please trust us. We will protect your safety! Please cooperate with us and evacuate in an orderly manner!" He pointed in the direction of the emergency exit. "That way is safe! Please follow the instructions!"

Some of the originally wavering passengers, after hearing what Officer Hu said, began to follow Chu Feng's arrangements and walked towards the emergency exit.

Suddenly, that chilling voice echoed over the radio again, this time much clearer and with a hint of mockery: "...Struggle...Despair...Your fear is my strength..." The voice died abruptly, leaving only the crackling sound of electricity and the increasingly strong smell of blood in the air. Chu Feng suddenly raised his head and looked in the direction of the radio, a cold murderous intent flashing in his eyes.

The appearance of Officer Hu temporarily stabilized the situation. He explained the dangers of evil spirits to the passengers and firmly stopped Merchant Sun's unreasonable behavior. Some of the initially wavering passengers, seeing the police's appearance, rekindled their hope and began to follow Chu Feng's instructions, moving towards the emergency exit.

But at that moment, a sharp metallic friction sound emanated from the station's ventilation vents, followed by a thick black smoke billowing out with a sickening stench. From the smoke, ferocious evil spirits swarmed out, emitting sharp roars and waving their sharp claws as they pounced on the crowd.

"Damn it! They came out of the vent!" Chu Feng cursed, brandishing his Demon Slayer Blade and charging at the evil spirit in the front. With a flash of the blade, an evil spirit was severed in half, black blood splattering and quickly dissipating in the air.

"Chu Feng, be careful!" Pan Yue's voice came from the side. He directed the passengers to take cover while observing the movements of the evil spirits. "These evil spirits are faster and more powerful than before, and there are more of them! They seem... to be controlled by some force, and their attacks are more organized!"

Chu Feng also noticed this. These evil spirits no longer attacked blindly like before, but rushed towards the most crowded areas with a purpose, as if they wanted to create greater chaos and panic.

"Pan Yue, you go find their weaknesses, and I will attract their attention!" Chu Feng shouted, his figure was as fast as lightning, shuttling between the evil spirits, and the demon-slaying knife in his hand turned into silver light, chopping the evil spirits into pieces.

Pan Yue nodded. He calmly observed the evil spirits' attack patterns, trying to find their weaknesses. He noticed that although these evil spirits attacked fiercely, their defenses did not seem strong, and their eyes seemed to be very sensitive to strong light.

"Chu Feng, try strong light!" Pan Yue shouted.

Chu Feng immediately understood what Pan Yue meant. He took out a flash grenade from his waist, pulled the fuse, and threw it towards the area where the evil spirits were most concentrated.

"boom!"

With a loud bang, a powerful white light instantly illuminated the entire station. The piercing explosion made people's eardrums buzz. The evil spirits, illuminated by the strong light, roared in pain, covered their eyes, and fled in all directions.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Chu Feng and Pan Yue increased their attack speed, killing the evil spirits that were blinded by the strong light one by one.

Their fight attracted the attention of more passengers. Everyone hid behind the bunkers and looked at the heroic figures of Chu Feng and Pan Yue with admiration in their hearts. "They are so brave!" a young girl whispered.

"Yes, if it weren't for them, we would have died long ago!" a middle-aged man echoed.

However, just when everyone thought the crisis was about to be resolved, an even more powerful evil spirit suddenly came from deep within the station, bringing with it a suffocating feeling of oppression.

Chu Feng suddenly stopped what he was doing. He looked up into the depths of the station, a solemn expression flashing in his eyes. He sensed that the evil spirit leader was about to show up...

Pan Yue also sensed this powerful evil spirit. His expression changed and he whispered, "Chu Feng..."

"I know." Chu Feng interrupted Pan Yue. He clenched the Demon-Slaying Sword in his hand, took a deep breath, and a cold murderous intent emanated from him.

"Here they come..." he whispered, his gaze fixed on the depths of the station. The demon-slaying sword in his hand hummed softly, as if responding to his fighting spirit. A chill wind blew, carrying a strong scent of blood, causing Chu Feng's hair to fly and his clothes to rustle. He felt a powerful pressure coming towards him, making him almost breathless. He gripped the demon-slaying sword tightly, his eyes filled with determination.

In the darkness, a huge figure slowly emerged...
