Chapter 1689 A Man Hidden in the House
Chapter 1689 A Man Hidden in the House
Nan Yi Feng,,,,
He stood in the courtyard outside Nan Weiwei's villa, his brows furrowed into a deep frown, his eyes filled with anxiety and disappointment.
"Nan Weiwei, you're just heartbroken, not brain-dead! Didn't you see that car came out from the very back?"
"Huh? What?" Nan Weiwei looked completely bewildered.
Nan Yifeng said, "You live at the very back. Is there anyone else behind your villa? This person is either looking for you or Xiaomei."
He stared intently at Nan Weiwei, trying to bring her to her senses and make her realize the absurdity of her thoughts.
Nan Weiwei was still immersed in the gloom of heartbreak and was a little stunned by Nan Yifeng's sudden questioning. But the stubborn girl quickly came to her senses, raised her chin slightly, and said with a hint of resentment in her eyes, "There really isn't one, but maybe it's a car that took the wrong turn."
Although her voice wasn't loud, it carried a stubbornness, as if sticking to her own ideas could make everything irrational seem reasonable.
Nan Yifeng was so angry at Nan Weiwei's words that he almost laughed out loud. He shook his head vigorously, reached out and gently poked Nan Weiwei's forehead with his finger, and said, "What era are we living in? There are still cars that take the wrong turn? We have navigation now!" He felt that Nan Weiwei was simply making excuses.
Nan Weiwei took a step back after being provoked by Nan Yifeng. She rubbed her forehead and still stubbornly said, "Navigation can be wrong too. You see in the news, there are reports from time to time of navigation leading drivers to remote places or dead ends."
She tried hard to find various reasons to support her point of view, but refused to admit that she might have made a mistake in judgment.
Nan Yifeng was both annoyed and amused by Nan Weiwei's evasive manner.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, then circled around Nan Weiwei, looking her up and down, and said, "Nan Weiwei, you're usually a very smart person, how could you be so confused about this? It's extremely rare for the navigation to malfunction, and even if it did, it wouldn't happen to come from the very back of your villa. That car clearly came from your villa area, and it might even be related to your breakup."
As he spoke, he observed Nan Weiwei's expression, trying to find some clues from her reaction.
"What do you mean? Are you trying to talk about Ye Junhao again? Nan Yifeng, you bastard."
Nan Yifeng's expression was not good.
Nan Weiwei knew she had been dumped, and her expression changed slightly, but she quickly regained her composure. She crossed her arms and said dismissively, "What could it be? Don't make wild guesses. Maybe it's just some neighbor's guest who got lost."
Her eyes darted away, avoiding Nan Yifeng's gaze, as if afraid he would see the panic in her heart.
"hehe,,,"
Nan Yifeng stopped, sneered, and stood in front of Nan Weiwei. He placed his hands on her shoulders, looked intently into her eyes, and said, "Nan Weiwei, stop deceiving yourself. There's definitely something wrong with that car; there might be some hidden story behind it."
"Are you out of your mind? It's not surprising that he's looking for Xiaomei. It's normal for adults to date. Don't assume everyone is a bad guy."
Nan Yifeng stood at the bottom of the steps of Nan Weiwei's villa, his hands casually in his pockets, a faint smile on his lips, but his eyes revealed a hint of seriousness. He said, "Yes, yes, it's normal for adults to date. But have you thought about it? If Xiaomei really dates, will it still be convenient for you to live together? Her... boyfriend won't approve, right?"
He tilted his head slightly, his gaze fixed on Nan Weiwei's face, as if trying to glean some clues from her reaction.
Nan Weiwei was about to turn around and go inside when she heard Nan Yifeng's words. She stopped in her tracks, frowned slightly, and a thoughtful look flashed in her eyes.
She was silent for a few seconds, then looked up at Nan Yifeng calmly and said, "We'll talk about it later. If she feels uncomfortable, she'll bring it up. I'll move out then! It's inconvenient for her to find a place to live since she's from out of town."
Upon hearing Nan Weiwei's words, Nan Yifeng's lips curled up slightly, revealing a mocking smile. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Nan Weiwei, are you trying to make yourself look capable? Instead of going home, you insist on causing trouble outside. You have too much money to burn."
He took his hands out of his pockets, crossed them over his chest, and looked at Nan Weiwei with a hint of provocation in his eyes, as if he was deliberately trying to provoke her.
Nan Weiwei was already in a bad mood because of her breakup, and Nan Yifeng's words made her even more irritable. He was the one who was to blame, so what was he trying to say now?
She frowned, a hint of impatience flashing in her eyes, and said irritably, "I don't want to argue with you. I'm going inside. You can leave now!" With that, she turned around and prepared to walk into the house.
Nan Yifeng, however, showed no intention of leaving. He stepped forward and blocked Nan Weiwei's path, a nonchalant smile playing on his lips, his eyes slightly narrowed, as he teased, "What's wrong? Is there a man hiding inside? You won't let me in? An ugly daughter-in-law has to meet her in-laws sooner or later. Let me vet you and see if you're better than me."
His tone was somewhat mocking, and his eyes swept over Nan Weiwei, as if he genuinely suspected there was some unspeakable secret in the room.
Nan Weiwei's cheeks flushed slightly with anger at Nan Yifeng's words. She glared at him and said loudly, "Nan Yifeng, don't be unreasonable! There's no man in my house. I just don't want to waste my time with you. You're in charge, haha. Don't forget what kind of person you are."
Her hands were clenched into fists, and her eyes were filled with anger.
Looking at Nan Weiwei's angry expression, Nan Yifeng found it somewhat endearing. His smile deepened as he said, "Oh, you're angry. I was just worried about you. What if you two young ladies are in danger living together?" Nan Yifeng's tone remained teasing, but his eyes revealed a hint of concern.
Nan Wei snorted coldly, turned her head away, and said, "What danger could I be in? I'm not a child anymore. Stop pretending and get out of here." After saying that, she pushed Nan Yifeng away.
Her voice carried a hint of determination; she truly didn't want any further entanglement with Nan Yifeng.
Seeing that Nan Weiwei was genuinely angry, Nan Yifeng dropped his nonchalant demeanor and said seriously, "Weiwei, I'm serious. If Xiaomei starts dating, it will indeed be inconvenient for you two to live together. Besides, you just broke up with your boyfriend, and if you live alone, what if you do something stupid because of your bad mood? My parents will kill me."
Upon hearing Nan Yifeng's words, Nan Weiwei turned to look at him, a strange emotion flashing in her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure and said, "I know, it's really nothing. I'll take good care of myself, so tell Mom and Dad not to worry."
At this time, the wind blows from the south...
